The Parish of St Teath is located in  The Diocese of Truro , the most south-western diocese of the Church of England. The parish is attached to the deanery of Trigg Minor and Bodmin in the Archdeaconry of Bodmin.   The Parish of St Teath incorporates the Parish Church of St Tetha and the sister church of St John the Evangelist, Delabole.                                                    

                                                                             

The present incumbent is the Rev. Sherry L. Bryan who has been with the parish since January 1996. Originally coming from Warwickshire, Sherry has lived in Cornwall since 1991. She has two daughters and two grand children. Her training for the ministry was undertaken through the West Midlands Ministerial Training Course based at Queen's College, Birmingham. She was curate at St Columb Minor and St Colan from 1991-95. In 1994 she was ordained priest in Truro Cathedral thus being one of the first 11 women to be ordained priest in Truro Diocese. Sherry is also one of the first lady priests to take charge of a parish in Cornwall.   

In May 2002 Sherry was installed as Rural Dean of Trigg Minor and Bodmin deanery whilst on May 4 2003 she will be installed as a Canon of Truro Cathedral.

The Parish is looking forward to three exciting events in the next few months. The first is a performance of Gabriel Faure's Requeim Op.48 given by the Augmented Choirs of St Teath and St Minver with full orchestra. This will initiate Holy Week commemorations for 2003 as part of the Palm Sunday celebrations on April13th at 6.00p.m. in St Teath Church. The second event is Sherry's installation as a Canon of the Cathedral on May 4th whilst as part of the Patronal celebrations on Whit Sunday June 8th there is to be a visit of the St Mewan Sinfonia to give a concert in St Teath Church.

The renowned annual Flower Festival will take place over the weekend of July 25-27 2003 in St Teath Church.

Once more the choir as part of the Augmented Choirs of St Teath and St Minver have been invited back to Truro Cathedral to lead the worship  for the annual Readers' Admission and Licensing Service on October 4th 2003

The village of St Teath lies on the western slopes of the River Allen to the south-west of Camelford(3 miles),  north-east of the market town of Wadebridge(7 miles) and due south of the world famous Delabole Slate Quarry. It is reached off the A39 south of Camelford. The village forms part of Cornish sporting legend in that the first record of cricket played in Cornwall was a single-wicket championship played between gentleman farmers on July 3 1781 in a field behind  the village inn.

The village of Delabole lies due west of Camelford on the B3314. It is the home of the world famous Delabole Slate Quarry and the first commercial wind-farm to be operated in Britain. On the site of the wind-farm is now located the Gaia Renewable Energy Centre (Click for further information).

Our Locality

The Parish of St Teath with its two churches is within easy striking distance of the North Cornwall holiday centres of Port Isaac, Tintagel and Boscastle whilst the popular surfing beach of Polzeath lies 10 miles down the coast road.

For the golf enthusiast, the golf and hotel complex of Bowood Park is adjacent to the parish and the golf courses of St Enodoc, Lanhydrock and St Kew are within easy reach.

For followers of Arthurian history the area abounds in opportunities for further studies at the Arthurian Centre at Slaughterbridge and at Tintagel.

Pencarrow House which is the home of the Molesworth-St Aubyn family, the National Trust property of Lanhydrock House and the world renowned Eden Project are all only short journeys away.
