The Parish Church of St Tetha

The Parish Church of St Tetha is situated in the centre of the village of St Teath adjacent to the Clock Tower and in close proximity to the village inn, The White Hart Inn. TSt Teathhe present building probably dates from the late 14th/early 15th century with rebuilding in 1630. It contains many artifacts from this period including font, pulpit and carved pew ends with links to the Knights Templar. Fragments of the medieval east end stained-glass window are believed to be incorporated into the windows of the north and south aisles. There is a fine collection of slate gravestones of great antiquity at the back of the church and around its outside perimeter including what is believed to be the oldest slate memorial known dated 1580. The cemetery contains a restored Celtic cross which is one of the largest crosses in Cornwall.

The church tower houses six bells which are rung regular every Sunday morning

Choral services are sung regularly in the Parish Church led by the church choir under the direction of the Director of Music. Visiting singers are welcome.

Whit Sunday is observed as the Patronal Festival of St Tetha. This will be celebrated this year at Choral Eucharist in the morning whilst in the evening a Concert will be given in the Church by the St Mewan Sinfonia, leader Martin White, conductor David Frost.

On October 4 the choir in its augmented form has the privilege once more of singing and leading the worship in Truro Cathedral on the occasion of the annual Admission and Licensing of Readers Service for the Diocese of Truro.

A Flower Festival held is annually in July. This year (2003) the Flower Festival will be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday July 25, 26 and 27. Details will be announced later.
