The music for the choral services is led by the St Teath Church Choir which is a mixed, robed choir.

The repertory of church music used for the services is wide ranging. For Choral Communion the settings used are Grayston Ives for Festive seasons and John Harper's A Mass for All Seasons for Ordinary Time. The hymn book used is Hymns Old and New  published by Kevin Mayhew,  http://www.kevinmayhewltd.com ,whilst the psalms are sung in a range of styles including plainsong, traditional anglican chants, responsorial psalms and on occasions, psalm songs. Chants are taken from the RSCM Chant Book published by the Royal School of Church Music, http://www.rscm.com ,  and Chants Old and New also published by Kevin Mayhew. Taize chants are sung from time to time whilst anthems are sung on a regular basis. The choir is augmented on special occasions and welcomes people who wish to contribute to the music of the church in this way.

For Holy Week the choir combines with the choir of St Minver Parish Church and is augmented by local singers to rehearse a major Passion work for Holy Week. Performances take place in St Teath Parish Church on Palm Sunday and in St Minver Parish Church on Good Friday. In the past three years works performed have been Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, Handel's Passion of Christ (Brocke Passion) and Bach's St Mark Passion. These latter performances were the first to be given in English of a  recent reconstruction of the work published by Barenheiter and translated into English and the English narrative adapted to Bach's music, with permission, by the Director of Music. In 2001 choirs gave successful performances of the Passion Music from Handel's Messiah Part II   together with Eric Thiman's The Last Supper .  For 2002 the choirs performed Love Unknown, a modern cantata on the Passion and Resurrection of Jesus. The text is by the late Edwin Le Grice, past Dean of Ripon Cathedral, with the music composed by Malcolm Archer, Master of the Choristers at Wells Cathedral. The work was first published in 1991 by Kevin Mayhew.

For Holy Week 2003 the Augmented Choirs will be joined by a full orchestra for a performance of Faure's Requiem Op.48. The performance will take place as part of Evensong on Palm Sunday April 13th at 6.00p.m.. This year a further performance will be given in St Mabyn Church on Wednesday April 16th in addition to the  traditional Good Friday performance in St Minver Church at 7.00p.m.. These will be accompanied by organ only.

In the Advent season a traditional  service of the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols is sung on the evening of Advent 4 in even years, and an Advent Carol Service sung on Advent Sunday evening in odd years.

The choir would welcome new members of all voices which would allow a more extended repertory of church music to be sung.

Visiting singers of all voices on holiday in the area are always welcome to join us for choral services.

Choir practices are held every Thursday evening at 7.00p.m. finishing around 9.00p.m. with an adjournment to the local hostelry (the landlord is a bass in the choir!).
